How to choose the material of the filter cloth

(1) The material of the filter cloth should be selected based on the chemical and physical properties of the material. Each filter fabric supplier should provide detailed technical information as much as possible for reference and selection.

(2) Select the permeability of the filter cloth according to the requirements of filtration accuracy. Although the filter cloth plays a crucial role in the initial filtration accuracy of the filter press, the higher the initial filtration accuracy, the better. It is necessary to consider whether the filtration accuracy can meet the requirements. After the filter press forms a filter layer for a period of time, the interception effect of the filter cloth is very small. The "filter layer" that plays a fine filtering role, and the formation of a good filter layer is the key to the use technology of the filter press.

(3) Peeling performance of filter cake. When selecting filter cloth, special attention should be paid to the peeling performance of the filter cake. The surface of the filter cloth is smooth and flat, and the filter cake peels off quickly. The complete filtration operation time is short, and the efficiency is high. The sticking of filter cake on the filter cloth is not easy to peel off, which will prolong the operating time of the filter press and reduce work efficiency. If the filter cloth needs to be replaced, the time will be longer. The commonly used box type filter press nowadays is quite troublesome to replace the filter cloth. Choosing monofilament filter cloth has better cake unloading performance than long multifilament and short fiber filter cloth, and choosing satin weave filter cloth has better cake unloading performance than plain weave filter cloth.

(4) The regeneration performance of filter cloth. When selecting filter cloth, it is also important to pay attention to selecting filter cloth with good regeneration performance. Filter cloth with good regeneration performance can be washed directly on the filter press, reducing the number of cloth changes. After simple treatment (drying, washing, etc.), the filtration efficiency of the replaced filter cloth has been restored to over 80%.

(5) Material filtration experiment. The use of filter press technology is an experimental technique. It is very important to conduct filtration experiments on the raw materials (without changing the material properties and process conditions) after the initial selection of the filter cloth. Conduct small sample experiments on material filtration to examine the filtration rate, retention effect, cake moisture content, cake unloading performance, regeneration performance, etc. of the filter cloth.
